Control Program Facility, commonly abbreviated to CPF, is the operating system used on the System/38 midrange computer. It is notable for being an implementation of a single-level store memory model in which disk and main storage are mapped into one flat memory space, and for being one of the first implementations of a bytecode based application layer, which would not be seen again until the likes of .NET and Java.
No versions of CPF are known to exist at this time. However, as part of the Silverlake project, CPF would be combined with the menu-driven user interface of System/36 SSP and later released as OS/400.
