Creating New Articles

When creating a new article, please stick to the following guidelines.

For Systems

If creating a page for an AS/400, title the page "AS/400 Model XXX" - i.e., AS/400 Model 150. You should also create a redirect page for the machine's MT/M - 9401-150. CISC machines should have their license tape status documented - does a machine need a tape for a specific configuration, and what the part or RPQ number is for the LIC tape.

iSeries machines should explicitly be titled "IBM iSeries Model XXX" - MediaWiki does not permit the first character of an article to be lowercase, and the branding at the time was iSeries, dang it. IBM iSeries Model 520

Power Systems will be titled along the lines of "Power Systems XXXX" - i.e., Power Systems 8203. Sub-models should be detailed on the page.

System/3X era machines will simply be titled by its machine name - i.e., System/34. Any sub-models will be detailed on the page.

For Peripherals

Simply title the page by its machine type and a 1-3 word product name. 7207 Tape Drive, 5291 Twinaxial Workstation, 5251 Workstation Emulation Adapter.

Third-party hardware may be titled with its manufacturer name. I-O Data 2677m Twinaxial Workstation, Perle 594e Remote Workstation Controller.

For Feature Codes

Any linked FCs should link to the master Feature Codes page with a linked sub-item on that page. Pages for individual FCs should not be created unless the FC is significant in some way - i.e., RPQ hardware, requires special customization or configuration to work.

Terminology

As our primary sources are IBM-provided Redbooks, training materials, and MAPs, this wiki uses IBM terminology where possible. For example, Main Storage instead of RAM, DASD instead of hard drive, and Planar Board instead of motherboard.
