The following is the correct procedure to put your OS/400 machine onto Super SNA World. These steps have been tested from OS/400 V3R1 to IBM i 7.1. You will need physical access to your AS/400 and an available communications port.

First, log into your AS/400 as a *SECOFR account, either as QSECOFR or your own personal *SECOFR account. Execute:

If your system is still at its default hostname, usually the serial number of your machine, you must change it now. It does not matter what, just as long as it is a unique and easy to remember name. Enter the following command:

Hostnames may be a maximum of 8 characters long. After executing this command, you will need to re-IPL your machine for the changes to apply.

When your system has returned from its IPL, we now need to look at your available communication lines. Return to QCMD and execute:

You will look for a Feature Code matching the communications line you would like to use.

Replace <YourCmnLine> with the CMN number you observed the step previous. Replace <YourInterfaceType> with either *RS232V24 or *V35 depending on your cable. Replace <YourLineSpeed> with the maximum speed you would like your connection to run at. For V.24 connections, enter 19200. For V.35 connections, you may go up to a maximum of 2048000.

Return to QCMD. Execute the following command:

Replace <YourStationAddr> with your assigned station address number. On certain newer machines such as the [[9406-520|iSeries Model 520]], if this command fails it is likely because your communications adapter is not attached to an IOP. Review the System Builder for your system to determine where your communications adapter should be placed in order for it to be IOP driven.

You are now ready to connect your AS/400 to your Cisco router. Once the cables are connected, execute:

Roll down until you see the SNAWORLD line and SNAWORLD controller. The lines should now be in the following state:
